Residents of Homs‘ Old City continued to return to their areas after two years of continuous clashes in the city. Not only returning residents don’t recognize the neighborhoods because of the severe destruction in infrastructure; the scene looks also very different to the thousand of families who were trapped for a long time. Since May 17, SARC Homs branch teams with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has been delivering food aid to the returning residents as well as those who were trapped in the city for a long time.
SARC is supporting around 400 people every day with hot meals in different areas of the Old City like Al-Hamidiyyeh, Bistan Al-Diwan, Safsafa, and Bani Al Sibae neighborhoods.
SARC volunteers have been working around the clock to ensure a healthy living to the residents after the huge destruction of infrastructure in the city. They have provided mosquito nets to 500 families and are trying until his moment to install water reservoirs in Bani Al Sibae and Al- Hamidiyyeh to provide clean water.
